Just Wow! Match day two of the 2020/21 Premier League season was quite an astonishing one. There was a record breaking 44 goals scored across the staggered three day weekend which is the most goals in a single Premier League weekend ever! So to commemorate this achievement we take a look back at the five best goals from match day two of 2020/21 season.

James Rodriguez VS West Brom

We begin with the recently signed James Rodriguez’s long range effort against the newly promoted baggies.

This one was an expertly taken goal and it gives us just a taster of what spectacular goals Rodriguez might be able to score this season. It really is a shame the fans couldn’t be in the stadium to witness this as I am sure this finish on his home debut would have helped endure Rodriguez to the Everton faithful.

Raul Jimenez VS Man City

Ok this one is slightly unfair, while Jimenez might get all the plaudits, the reason this goal is on the list is due to the unbelievable assist from Daniel Podence.

Podence might have missed a couple of absolute sitters in this game but his assist was a thing of beauty. It’s not every day you see someone perform a nutmeg on KDB and curl an absolute peach into the box but that is exactly what happened for this goal.

Wolves might have slumped to a match day two loss but they can take solace in the fact they scored the best goal of the game.

Helder Costa VS Fulham

The opening goal of yet another 4-3 game involving Leeds unsurprisingly makes my list.

This goal is here because it is a pure piledriver. The shot looked like it almost took the crossbar off the goal! It’s definitely one of the best goals from last weekend.

Matheus Pereira VS Everton

Another goal from the opening game of the weekend between Everton and West Brom at Goodison.

This one is arguably the pick of the bunch. Free kicks always look amazing when they fly into the top corner with a bit of curl, but the fact this goal was about 30 yards out makes this effort even more aesthetically pleasing.

Dennis Praet VS Burnley

For my final inclusion on this admittedly short list, I have gone for yet another piledriver, but this time from Dennis Praet.

This one is here simply because of the technique from Praet, the fact he managed to get that much power whilst skilfully guiding it into the top corner is pretty impressive. This goal might be one of the best goals to be scored at the King Power all season.

There you have it, the five best goals from last weekend. Leave a comment if you think any others should have been included!
